Drinking snake whiskey in Luang Prabang, Laos

Luang Prabang: A gorgeous town full of religious culture and fun activities.

Explore the blue pools of Kuang Si Falls, feed the monks at dawn (Just be mindful- females can’t look them in the eye or touch them), and visit the town’s – many – temples and shrines.

Now, two words that now strike fear into my heart: Snake Whiskey.

A traditional Lao alcohol, it is exactly what it sounds like – Snake fermented in whiskey.

It tastes horrible, and it burns. But it’s meant to make you strong, so yay for that.

Another thing: When I was in Luang Prabang, we also got the opportunity to ride elephants.

It was a lot of fun, but in a similar case to my Tigers in Chiang Mai situation, knowing what I know now I probably wouldn’t make the same decision, in terms of animal rights and such.

But that’s something for you to decide if you ever come across a similar opportunity.
