Cruising around the Greek Islands is a dream for many, and I was really ecstatic I got to fulfil that dream at the end of my time in Europe.
Cruise ships themselves are their own destination – they have EVERYTHING – restaurants, bars, theatres, shops, beauty salons, pools, and games. And the staff are so friendly – they actually offer to bring you another drink to your poolside lounge if you glass is looking a bit empty. Heaven.
Then there were the ACTUAL destinations – a sunset stop at Mykonos, which has some of the most beautiful seaside restaurants I’ve ever come across, and some of the thinnest streets I’ve ever seen.
You must try the seafood in Mykonos, so I’m told, so even though I really dislike the taste of seafood, I ate a delicious Bass Risotto (and actually ate most of the fish in the dish!).
Then to Kusadasi, Turkey (Or as I like to refer to it “Crazy Cat Lady World”), where the biggest tourist attraction is Ephesus, the ruins of the ancient city.
If you’re a traveller, you’ve most likely seen a lot of ruins in your day, but, trust me, these ruins are pretty spectacular. Some structures have been kept in such good shape you almost feel as if you’ve been transported back to the day in which they were actual used structures.
And the cats – so many cats, everywhere! Walking in the gate a group of about 40 greeted us.
I love cats, so I couldn’t resist playing with them all (and using hand sanitizer promptly afterward).
