VEGAN EATS: VX Bristol, United Kingdom

DSC_0035

Coming from a regional area of Australia, I can’t even begin to tell you how excited and gladly overwhelmed by the amount of choice I have access to now in terms of vegan food now that I’m living in the UK.

Faced with so much choice, I’ve decided to do the only rational thing: Start a new blog series called ‘Vegan Eats’ where I plan to test out as much vegan food and restaurants that I possibly can, both here in the UK and further afield.

Basically, I just want a good excuse to eat and eat and eat some more.

My Vegan, ‘Towards Minimalist’ Make Up Kit

DSC_0111

Since transitioning to a vegan lifestyle, my make up kit – like my toiletry bag – has undergone a transformation.

I’ve never been a huge make up person – my daily make up routine has, for a long time, only involved BB cream, powder, blush, mascara and lip balm – and I’m not make up artist or glamazon, but I am a person who enjoys make up on occasion.

It’s important to me to only purchase and use products that are both free from animal products and are not tested on animals.

Good food, good company, good sights – Byron Bay

DSC_0048

It’s always so lovely to meet new friends who have similar interests, hobbies and goals.

So I was super pleased to catch up with Amanda Round The Globe while she was in Byron Bay recently, for a day of adventure.

Together we devoured some delicious vegan food, walked a popular beachside track, visited the famed Byron Lighthouse, and even spotted some whales!

10 tips to help you start moving towards a Zero Waste lifestyle

About nine months ago I first heard the term “Zero Waste”.

I had seen TED talks by Lauren Singer of Trash is for Tossers and Bea Johnson from the Zero Waste Home, and became instantly hooked on the idea of a life creating as little waste as possible.

I began researching at every opportunity this “zero waste lifestyle” idea, and began implementing what I’d learnt into my life.

I became extraordinarily passionate about the topic, and talked to my friends and family about it as often as I could.

Now, after having been on this path for a while, I feel ready to share what I’ve learnt with you all.

Eat the Street food festival, Lismore

This is the first post in my series on the Northern Rivers, my home region.

One the best things about Lismore, the regional centre of the area I live in, is probably it’s wide range of food on offer.

From Japanese, to Mexican, Indian, Thai, Italian, Chinese, Mediterranean, fine dining, or a good old pub meal – you can find it all in Lismore

The small city is overflowing with restaurants, and has an epic cafe culture which leaves you with an overwhelming amount of choice for your Sunday morning brunch.

That’s why it’s only appropriate that one of the biggest events of the year in Lismore is the Eat the Street festival.

My Vegan Journey / Why I Turned Vegan

I started transitioning to a vegan diet and lifestyle around August-September last year.

I originally first flirted with the idea of veganism when I was 16, and I knew a few people who had made the switch, for various reasons. I started to go through periods where I would be vegetarian for a while, the longest I think was like 10 months, but I always ended up giving into cravings.  Continue reading “My Vegan Journey / Why I Turned Vegan”
