The most mindbogglingly beautiful place – Banff, Alberta

image

Banff is like a fairytale place for travellers: natural beauty everywhere you look, so many activities to undertake, and many travellers to trade stories with.

Yes, I’m actively ignoring the cries of “but it’s so mainstream” and “it’s a tourist trap.”

So what if it is? That doesn’t change the beauty Banff has to offer.

First, there’s the Bow River, just at the end of the walk down the main street of town.

Take a walk alongside the river and its clear water, and stunning greenery surrounding it.

This was truly one of the most beautiful sights I’ve ever seen.

Head downstream (turn left after you cross the river when coming from town) to get a good look at Bow River Falls, a series of small waterfalls (more like Rapids really).

Peering through the trees, you’ll get a gorgeous view – and a perfect spot for photos!

If you’re feeling extra active, there is a Bow Falls trail you can hike (among other trails around Banff).

A trip to Banff would be incomplete with a visit to the top of Sulphur Mountain.

There are two ways to get there: either by hiking or – my favourite option – the Banff Gondola.

Either way, get yourself up there to gaze upon these incredible views.

Banff:

Where we stayed: HI Banff Alpine Centre

Where we went: Banff Gondola, Banff Upper Hot Springs, Bow River and Bow River Falls

Where we ate: Coyotes Southwestern Grill and Tommy’s Neighbourhood Pub

How we got around: Banff’s public buses – Roam Transit (When you stay at the HI, you get a free bus pass!)

Note: I am not partnered with any of the above mentioned companies, nor was I paid to mention them, it just turns out that when I organised this holiday I went with these.
