My first steam train experience at Lake Windermere, the Lake District, UK

Sometimes the smallest of experiences can make a strong mark on your soul, create the greatest of memories, and give you such a sense of satisfaction – for lack of a better word.

On a day where we didn’t do much in terms of adventure – in fact, we took it quite easy and had a bit of a ‘lazy day’ – it was interesting to note that our day trip to Lake Windermere gave me so many “travel” feels.

I felt such a strong sense of Wanderlust, but also of completion in terms of travel and adventure.

I just can’t quite put my finger on why exactly, but it’s a nice feeling to have regardless.

Roadtripping through the Scottish Highlands

What do you think of when someone mentions the Scottish Highlands?

Loch Ness, the home of Nessie? Well, that’s a fair call – the Loch Ness is a particularly popular attraction of Scotland’s northern region.

However, what I came to find during my time there is that the Scottish Highlands are certainly not just the Loch Ness – Oh no, this Scottish region is so much more than that.

The Loch Ness is just one tiny part of it.

Banff – Jasper: Up the Icefields Parkway

It’s referred to as “one of the most beautiful highways in the world” and it’s not hard to see why.

The journey along the Icefields Parkway from Banff to Jasper really brings a whole new meaning to the term “scenic route”.

Mum and I travelled up this beautiful stretch of road on a bus tour with SunDog Tours, booked through Viator – a brilliant decision.

Not only did we get from one destination to the other, but we got to stop off at so many magical sights on the way.
