Our Canada Adventure Begins + You’re never “too old” to travel

My most recent adventure – To Canada – was a very different experience for me.

Usually, I travel solo and meet up with group tours along the way, but this time I was organising everything from go to woah.

Oh, and my mother was coming along too.

I have to say: I am so proud of my mother for saying yes to this opportunity.

She’s the type of woman who doesn’t do much for herself while she runs around doing everything for everyone else.

She’s only travelled outside Australia twice – once on a cruise when she was 21, after winning the trip as a prize (She, such a good girl, took her big brother along with her); and secondly to New Zealand with myself and my brother when we were young for an inline hockey competition my brother was competing in.

She’s always wanted to travel, she just thought she’d never really get the opportunity.

However, when I was talking about my upcoming trip I had planned, she joked “Oh, that sounds great – can I come too.” You know, ha ha ha.

I said: “Well why don’t you?”

At Sydney Airport – One flight down, three to go!

And for once in her life, instead of umming and ahhhing and finally stopping on an anxious reason why it couldn’t, she instead decided to take the leap.

And bam – my Canada trip now became a Mum and Daughter trip in Canada.

I’m so proud of her for proving you’re never “too old” to travel, or that once your youth has passed, your opportunity for this kind of adventure is null and void – that’s simply not true.

She took the leap. And you can too.
