The weather shouldn’t stop you: Hofpgarten, Austrian Tyrol region

The Austrian Tyrol region is a very green place, so I shouldn’t have been that confused as to why it rained the whole time we were there – it was the beginning of October when we were there.

The rain did cause a few problems for us, but it was also part of what made Austria so beautiful in my eyes – so lush and green, so I couldn’t be upset about the rain in the slightest.

It had never been on any bucket list of mine to go white water rafting, but when we were given the opportunity, I jumped at the chance (and didn’t tell my mum, who had made me promise not to do it).

While it wasn’t a crazy hard route, it was so much fun, and a great route for beginners to do – and surrounding by such natural beauty.

I actually considered taking up white water rafting as a sport after taking part in the activity.

It was a stay of adventure, in Austrian Tyrol. We also went to an Olympian bobsled training centre (So scary but fun – my head was a bit battered by the end of it though from the corners and bashing into the sides of the bobsled).

Exploring the region on a mountain bike ride the next day, we were only five minutes in to the two-hour ride when it began pouring rain – Yes, I told you the rain did cause a few problems with us.

Some riders turned back, but I decided to power through with the other troopers, and by the end of the two hours, I was soaked through all my layers of clothing, my shoes had become sponges, and my jaw was chattering.

But there were no crashes on the slippery roads and we saw some beautiful sights – plus had the feeling of accomplishment after completing such an adventure.

Unfortunately, due to the rain, only a small number of our tour group were able to do the Paragliding before the organisation called it off for the day.

I was very disappointed by that, because it was something I had looked forward to the whole trip, but oh well – I’ll do it next time!
